Love your lawn and garden but hate the thought of using dangerous pesticides or
herbicides? Try these six proven do-it-yourself pest eliminators - all made from
common ingredients that you may have in your kitchen right now!
1. To get rid of snails and slugs in your garden, add crushed eggshells to your
soil. To them, it's walking on glass, so snails and slugs will tend to avoid the
area entirely. If slugs are a continuing problem, a few pinches of salt will
make quick work of them.
2. Garlic cloves and hot peppers are an effective deterrent for all kinds of
pests. Try blending a chopped garlic clove (without peeling), a couple of hot
peppers or a jar of hot pepper sauce, along with a few drops of liquid bleach.
Mix with water and add to a spray bottle and start hosing the invaders down.
Don't forget to spray the undersides of leaves where pests tend to hide.
3. If a fungus has invaded your plants, mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid
and water and wipe it down. You'll be surprised how quickly this will rejuvenate
sickly looking plants!
4. Nutrient-rich soil is one of your best defenses against common garden
ailments. Adding organic mulch around trees and flower beds, and add a layer of
organic soil to your lawn every spring. The nutrients help keep plants fresh and
act as a shield to protect your plants from parasites.
5. If mildew, mold or fungus is a problem, here's a solution you can spray
right on the plant that makes a big difference in a very short time. Combine a
gallon of water, a tablespoon of baking soda and 2 ? tablespoons of vegetable
oil. Put into a spray bottle and mist plants from top to bottom - even in places
where there are no signs of a problem.
6. Leftover coffee grounds make great ingredients to compost. They work as
natural pesticides and literally "perk up" ailing plants. Place the grounds into
the soil surrounding your plants. The acidity of the coffee is what keeps
invaders at bay.
Finally, consider enlisting the help of a "natural army" of ladybugs and
earthworms. They help keep common pests like aphids away and keep the soil
fertilized and healthy. Don't forget to walk around your garden or landscape
often and inspect your plants for any signs of damage. Early action is the
key!About the Author

muscle by exercising is not easy - but it's also not as hard as you might think.
The most important thing to remember when it comes to replacing fat with muscle
is that you just need to find a plan or routine that works, and then stick with
it. In most cases, this will not have to be a particularly strenuous routine,
just so long as you continue working out regularly and consistently. It is also
important to note that while exercise will be a large part of your plan, you
cannot just replace fat with lean muscle by exercise alone. In most cases, you
will also have to make some changes to your daily diet as well.First, make sure
that you are eating correctly. You need to put the proper ?building blocks? in
place for muscle development to occur. What this means is that you should find
out how many calories are healthy for somebody of your body type to eat every
day, and try to stick as closely to that number as possible. You should also
make sure that you are eating a variety of foods so that your body gets enough
?building blocks? of protein, carbs and other nutrients. This way, you'll be
able to more efficiently form muscle tissue. We like to recommend that you try to
eat organic fruit, vegetables and meat as often as you can. Organic food is
produced without added chemicals, pesticides, hormones, waxes and genetic
modification. It always is the more healthy food choice. It is also important to
make sure that you drink adequate amounts of filtered or spring water everyday.
Water is one of the most important nutrients that most people tend to ignore.
Proper hydration is key to muscular performance and the regulation of all bodily
functions. We recommend that everybody drinks at least ? gallon or 2 liters of
pure filtered water every day.You Will Need Both Cardio And Weight Lifting
Exercises In Your RoutineOnce you are eating properly, you should talk to a
personal trainer or do some research so that you can decide on an exercise
routine that will be best for you. You should keep in mind that you cannot
actually convert fat directly to muscle! Therefore, any workout routine should
involve both cardiovascular exercise to burn the fat you do have, and weight
lifting to build more lean muscle mass. Remember that muscle burns fat, so the
more lean muscle that you gain the more fat your body can naturally burn. The
essential keys to building muscle are a balanced nutrition plan, consistent and
regular workouts and plenty of sleep!About the Author: Julia Mahler is a
