amazing superfood'
Did you know that one of the easiest and most convenient health foods you can
get today are nuts? Ask me about a week ago about this and I wouldn't have
believed you. I mean nuts? C'mon, how can they possibly be healthy for you. Just
look at the label on any Planters Nuts package. They're loaded with fat and
sometimes plenty of sodium. So how could they possibly be a superfood let alone
one with "mystical" healing powers? That was before I did a little research on
them and enlightened my ignorance. And that was when my eyes and mouth were
opened. And then I popped a small handful of walnuts in my mouth. Let me tell
you a little bit about what I learned, especially about all the fat in walnuts.
Walnuts are low in saturated fat - the bad stuff - and high in both
polyunsaturated and mono-unsaturated fat - the good fats. They are rich in
Omega-3 fatty acids. This is the one we're told to get by eating lots of fish,
especially salmon. Don't know about you but trying to eat salmon 2-3 times a
week to get my allowance of Omega-3 fatty acids can be quite troublesome. Not
too many people have the time to prepare a nice salmon steak. So that's one
reason why walnuts are good for you and me. Another one that I have witnessed
personally is research has shown that including some of these healthy fats that
come from walnuts in your diet can be a benefit to people trying to lose weight.
How? Easy, they make you full. Try this: eat a handful of walnuts with a small
glass of water. Wait about 20-30 minutes and see if you are still hungry. They
will fill you up and keep you from overeating. So whenever I get hungry I snack
on some unsalted peanuts and walnuts and some raisins and keep from eating
unhealthy foods. How else can walnuts help you? The FDA has also come out and
stated that walnuts are helpful in lowering cholesterol and helping in
preventing heart disease and lowering blood pressure. How the heck do they do
that? Walnuts scrub your veins and arteries clean and remove plaque buildup. So
the easier your blood flows through your body the less your heart has to work.
They also contain high amounts of protein, fiber, vitamin B6, folacin, vitamin E
and thiamin - several nutrients your body needs to function properly. They also
help supply your skin with the necessary nutrients it needs to rebuild damaged
tissue. So if you're interested in preserving and improving your skin's
appearance walnuts provide a natural way to help combat the signs of aging.

for about $6 a pound. You can also buy some organic ones which sell for about $7
a pound. Beats the cost of most heart disease prescriptions and diet pill
programs. You can also check out your local farmer's market or Whole Foods. The
many nutritional benefits of walnuts have been understood for thousands of
years. I'm just a little slow to this party. Now that I know I eat them everyday
and recommend you give some a try too. You can get the health benefits of
